I read Rolf Gates book, Meditations from the Mat
, years ago a couple of times. I would then place it by my yoga mat and randomly open to a page for inspiration. His words continue to remind me of why I practice. His energy in person is electric and I was honored to be invited into his home for this interview. I especially admire Rolf’s candor around his twelve step program which I know will resonate with many people. He mentions an upcoming recovery program in November at Esalen, which I’m sure will be a great success.

Hi. I am a recovering addict and I found out about you through my yoga teacher (Susan Sherrill), at the YMCA in High Point, NC. She talked about forgiveness Of others and ourselves in class one day and I told her after class that I am in recovery. She told me about you and your retreat this fall. I can’t wait to meet you! Please let me know about the retreat so I can be sure and come.
Congratulations on your recovery. I am going to forward your info to Rolf but you can sign up right online – Esalen’s schd link on the blog. Please let me know how it goes. Peace & Love & Light
