I’ve been feeling a little sorry for myself this morning. I find out on Monday if I’m going to have to have my hip replaced. The great news is IF I do I will still be able to do yoga. I may not be able to run at the same level I did before, but I will deal with that loss if/when it comes. I’m taking my own #Yoga Wisdom Of The Day and applying it to my own life. One of the things I do when I’m feeling disconnected is I look to other Yoga Teachers For Wisdom and Inspiration.
Yoga Teachers Inspire Me. I’m a VERY VISUAL person so my first go-to this morning is Instagram (I’m STEPHANIEYOGINI there, have we connected?)
I didn’t have to look far. An extraordinary yoga teacher who is in my upcoming book stopped me in my tracks and made me SMILE ~ Meet Robin Martin: (robinmartinyoga)
Yes, she is stunning – inside and out.
What stands out for me, though, is how Robin used yoga to control her anxiety. She used yoga to help. “I battled anxiety in college and had a fear of flying for many years. I’ve never taken anxiety medication, but there was a time where I probably could have used it. I’ve learned to control my anxiety with my breath. It’s a gift that has changed my life. My fear of flying kept me grounded, mostly fearing I would have a panic attack mid-flight. I travel comfortably knowing I’m in control of my breath, therefore I’m in control of anxiety.”
Robin is very passionate about her yoga practice and the joy it brings to her life. As a result, she decided to become a yoga teacher to share her knowledge and passion. Robin received her 200 hour Yoga Alliance certification through Tiffany Cruikshank Yoga. In addition to Tiffany, she has studied with Edward Clark, Baron Baptiste and Richard Freeman, to name a few. She is also an avid acroyoga practitioner. She studies weekly with world-renowned acroyoga teacher Lux Sternstein and has studied with Jason Nemer and Jason and Chelsey Magness. While her teaching focus is vinyasa yoga, she is contstantly exploring different styles, growing and evolving her own practice. She believes yoga is accessible to anyone willing to take the first step on their own personal yoga journey.
… and I love it that Robin totally dispels any preconceived ideas you might have about being a Mom. These pics show me she’s quite the kid at heart anyway. I hope her two daughters know that their mom is quite unusual ~ and a gift to so many.
I wish I could go with Robin this October on her retreat, but I have a prior trip planned. Click through the link for more details:
