Physical strength is one thing… but…

Emotional strength is essential if you don’t want your emotions to drive your actions. This is a great mental strength to develop. Sometimes it is best to know what not to do. Following are 15 things that emotionally strong people don’t do:

  1. No Begging For Attention

Feeling unsure of your worth is a self-fulfilling prophecy; if you don’t know you matter, than no one will ever believe you do.

  1. No Allowing Others To Bring You Down

Emotional strength requires resilience. Sadly, there are haters out there. Some could be very close to you. Limit your time with them if you must be with them, or eliminate any toxic people in your life. Get rid of ANY emotional vampires in your life.

  1. They Don’t Hold Grudges

People with whom you seek to alienate and hold grudges against take up too much of your mental energy, doing more harm than good.

  1. Never Stop Doing Your Own Thing

Do what you do because you love it. Don’t stop for anyone who sees this as inappropriate.

  1. Never Stop Believing In Yourself

Those who aren’t afraid or proud to be themselves – never doubt themselves.

  1. Don’t Act Like An A**hole

If you are intimidating or being cruel, you’re obviously overcompensating for a lack of confidence.

  1. Know Better Than To Just Let Anyone Into Your Life

Don’t expose yourself to people who break down your defenses and crush your morale. If anything, look for someone who lifts YOU up. A mentor is a great idea too – Look to greatness and copy their wisdom.

  1. Don’t Be Afraid To Love

If you’re afraid to love, you don’t have enough confidence in yourself.

  1. They Don’t Dread The Day Ahead Of Them

Waking up you should realize how grateful you are for another day. If not, take that as a HUGE red flag you need to make changes. Take action to make that happen for yourself. This isn’t the dress rehearsal, this is the play. You will never have this day again – Ever.

  1. They Don’t Do Things They Don’t Want To

Sure, we all do things we don’t love but have obligations – but we should never do things we don’t want to.

  1. They Have No Problem Saying No

If you don’t say no you’re considered a pushover – and will be abused. People won’t ask your opinion or take it seriously when you give it. Saying no tells people that they don’t have control over you.

  1. They Don’t Forget To Give Back

In fact, they are happy to. When you “get a gift, you must give a gift” as an old friend of mine once told me. Don’t ignore your responsibility as a gifted human to pay it forward.

  1. They Don’t Feel The Need To Fit In

If so, you are screaming to the world “I’m afraid to be myself”.

  1. They Don’t Forget Happiness Is A Decision

The emotionally strong, and those with a high emotional IQ, have learned to understand the power their brains have over both the mind and body.

Yoga gave me the wisdom and insights to recognize these things. I highly recommend find a yoga practice you love and/or meditation.
